Frigate History

The Canterbury is a Leander Class Frigate built in Scotland for the RNZN and commissioned in 1971, service number F421. She accommodated 240 Officers and Ratings.

She was powered by two steam turbines driving twin shafts totalling 30,000 horsepower. In 2005 Canterbury F421 was decommissioned and on the 3rd November 2007 she took her last journey to the seabed of Maunganui Bay.
